How tragedy can motivate change

Would a tragic event motivate you to decorate your home and make positive changes for you and your family? For Amy, it did.  

The last holiday Amy spent with her loving husband, Sean, was Christmas 2021. Devastated and still in the grieving process, Amy desired a sanctuary - a place of security. Amy’s goal was to create a new sense of happiness for her two teenage daughters this holiday season.  Amy had put energy towards change and rebirth in her home. Bringing new joy and peace into her home meant reaching out to us here at How We Haven. 

For Amy, creating this new space meant: new paint, drapes, light fixtures, bedding, and even new rugs. 

For us, we wanted to remind everyone that designing a space doesn’t always mean buying new things or doing an entire room overhaul. Any change, from new paint to creating a cozy spot with a new blanket, helps! How We Haven is not here to only tackle elaborate projects, we are here to help all women achieve peace and happiness; regardless of their wallet and regardless of the size of their need.

Lyndsay and I believe interior designing is an intimate process that is built on trust, kindness, small wins, and often compassion for the varieties of reasons we crave and create change. We are here to build that one wall, one corner, or entire room that makes you feel reborn or allows new life and happiness to be felt within your home.

There was no way we could make Amy’s home feel the way it did with Sean’s presence. We could, however, help her create a space that brought her and her daughters a sense of hope for new beginnings.
